Citizen Kane

With one week before the Team USA Olympic training camp begins, Patrick Kane was charged with Assault and Robbery in Buffalo, after hitting a Cabbie for not giving him and his cousin enough change.

Kane spent the night at a Erie County Detention center and pleaded not guilty the next day at the arraignment. The Blackhawks issued a statement saying they stood behind the player, who has helped the hockey resurgence that is Blackhawks hockey. EA Sports, when questioned if Kane would remain on the cover of NHL10, echoed similar statements

When asked for comment, teammate Ben Eager stated that it was ok and that Kane was innocent because he wasn’t wearing a visor at the time of the assault.  “Alls good”, Eager said.

While the court date for Kane’s case is set to start the same day as the Olympic Camp, USA Hockey expects him to suit up and be ready to go. USA Hockey spokesman Dave Fischel has already stated, “Certainly, there is a code of conduct that an Olympian must sign once he becomes an Olympian. But no one is an Olympian at this time. Just a prospect.”

Kane’s an entertaining player to watch. Its a shame that he let himself get caught into something this stupid. Since the kid didn’t go to college or play, it was bound to happen. These are the things people learn growing up. Things like drunken fights and relationship issues creep up into life at uncomfortable times. However, what makes this different from you and me is that we weren’t multi-thousandaires and the stars of one of the sport’s most well known teams.

Oh, well. Live and learn Patrick. With your bonus, its best to walk away from twenty cents.

At least the Cabbie’s attorney is talking some sense.
